The Latest Coreless Direct Drive Motor Achieves High-precision Stable Rotation

The technologies acquired through the development of the SL-1200 Series and the high-end SL-1000R model were lavishly inserted into the motor drive unit, a key part of the turntable. The motor exclusively tunes the single-rotor, coreless direct drive motor adopted by the SL-1200GR in order to read the high rotation accuracy and high-precision signals of the record. Optimal motor control is conducted for the inertial mass of the two-layer structure platter on which the vinyl record is placed with deadening rubber on the entire back surface to eliminate unwanted resonance in the aluminum die-cast platter to eliminate the rotation irregularity called cogging.

Accurately Reads Signals from the Groove on the Record

The tonearm is a static-balance universal S-shape tonearm, another Technics tradition. By adopting a high-precision bearing using the same gimbal suspension construction and machined housing as the SL-1200 Series, high initial sensitivity is achieved. The aluminum
die-cast chassis is rigidly integrated with a special material consisting of ABS-mixed with glass fiber to achieve a two-layer construction. The insulator is comprised of a spring and rubber to provide optimal vibration-damping characteristics.

    Designed for Functional Beauty

The SL-100C sports a simplistic visual design without unnecessary frills, while retaining the high quality operational feel that is a Technics tradition. Its elegant minimalist appearance will enhance your listening experience.

      SL 100 c

Very quiet and excellent rotation.. the cueing mechanism feels a bit cheap. Playback with a better cartridge is excellent.

      Your last turntable

i wanted to buy my last table and wisely chose the 100C. THE PITCH IS SPOT ON testing at 1khz snd 10 khz with no spreading at the base of the fft display. Great tBle for piano music. Superb tone arm with adj gimbal pivot height. Using a ols Shure M97 with a Jico stylus snd csn track the 27 cm/sec track with no breakup. Heavy table with adj height feet for leveling. A superb buy. Don't miss out. By the replacement ML stylus from AT and enjoy.

The classic Technics with no frills

This table fully expresses the essentials of what made Technics an exceptional maker of turntables in their heyday and today. Absolute rock solid speed, low noise, and a tonearm well suited to a wide choice of pickups.

      Simply Amazing!

After looking at turntables again for several years, and finding nothing comparable to my old Technics SL-1100 or SL-10 turntables I finally stumbled across the SL-100C. It had everything I wanted, and none of today's Wifi, Bluetooth or integrated preamp built-ins that I absolutely did not. Before I pulled the trigger I wanted to do a bit of research to ensure Technic's quality was still as superior as it used to be.

I read a lot of articles about how direct drive turntable were "only for DJs", and how only belt drive turntables were "audiophile" quality. The people writing those articles obviously didn't grow up during the heyday of vinyl in the 70s and 80. Most belt drive turntables were considered the "Blue Light Special" of turntables back then, little to nothing compared with the big direct drive turntables of Technics, Dual, Nakamichi, and many others.

The SL-100C has brought back those memories. The absolutely quiet and precision of its big motor is remarkable, none of the however imperceptible wow and flutter of belts, no motor hum from an inferior quality motor, just pure glorious music.

I also read several reviews commenting on Technic's choice of the AT VM-95C and how it was obviously "not an audiophile grade cartridge". It's pretty obvious that these "audiophiles" never reviewed the VM-95; its quickly and easily upgradeable from the lowly conical C stylus to microlinear or Shibata styli. I kinda think that qualifies AT's VM-95 cartridges as being…
